Depression and Anxiety Symptoms

Depression and Anxiety symptoms are often lumped together because they can actually be very similar and the fact of the matter is, people who are diagnosed with depression often have anxiety as well. On their own each condition can be debilitating, combine the two and you have a double whammy of conditions that are sometimes hard to treat.

If you’ve ever experienced depression and anxiety, you know that feeling of hopelessness that takes you over to the point that sometimes life doesn’t seem worth living. But many people experience these feelings (I know hearing this doesn’t necessarily help), and they are able to bounce back from them and recover – you just have to find the right treatment for you.

When you feel depressed sometimes it can be hard to even get out of bed. You’re tired, sometimes your body physically hurts, you probably cry a lot, lose interest in food and/or activities. You often cut everyone out of your life, you just want to be left alone to wallow in your misery.

At least that’s what you tell yourself, sometimes you think part of you wants to feel this way, but you know the truth, that you don’t, that you want life to be better but don’t know how to make that happen.

Anxiety symptoms can make you feel agitated and overwhelmed, with a pounding heart that is telling you to just flee. Sometimes anxiety symptoms can get so severe you might even feel like you are having a heart attack.

People who have depression and anxiety symptoms experience everything more severely, they have a higher risk of suicide, find it harder to find help/treatment, and can just have difficulty getting through their day.

While depression and anxiety can be more difficult to treat than each condition on its own, it is possible to get them both under control and back to your life.

Some anxiety can cause depression, if this is the case Panic Away may be able to help, if depression is not caused the anxiety but has another underlying cause, treating it with medication, such as an antidepressant can help, often times the medication can take care of the anxiety as well. While symptoms can vary, even if they overlap a bit, one condition may be caused by the other, taking care of one can sometimes fix both problems.

Aside from medication, some things you can try is to change your lifestyle. Introduce breathing exercises, muscle relaxation, and even yoga. Eat well, get enough sleep – that one can’t be stressed enough, and exercise.

Depression and anxiety symptoms can be a thing of the past if you take the time to ask for help to get over them, sometimes trying to cross a hurdle by yourself just isn’t the answer, don’t be afraid to ask for help.
